Guillaume de Goys elected chairman of Aluminium France

ALVANCE Aluminium Group welcomes the election of Chief Operating Officer Guillaume de Goÿs as Chairman of Aluminium France, assuming the role from Rio Tinto’s General Manager of Aluminium Technology Faure.

Guillaume will continue the work initiated by Jean-François Faure, focussing on the challenges of reindustrialisation, the industry’s response to climate change, and adapting to the challenges posed by Covid.

An experienced figure in the French aluminium sector, Guillaume was promoted to be ALVANCE’s Chief Operating Officer in May 2020. This followed his role as Managing Director of Aluminium Dunkerque, Europe’s largest aluminium producer, since 2016. His career has also taken in senior positions with Carbone Savoie, Rio Tinto Alcan and Michelin.

Since his appointment, Guillaume has led ALVANCE’s successful response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, managing the challenges of those sites that have adjusted production in line with restrictions and demand.

He has also overseen the completion of ALVANCE’s purchase of Belgium’s Duffel aluminium rolling facilities and continues to push the organisation in the direction of its target to be carbon neutral by 2030, in line with parent group GFG Alliance.
In response to his new role as Chairman of Aluminium France, Guillaume said: “I’m delighted to be elected to this important function and look forward to continuing the work of Jean-François with the team.”

“Despite the challenges of the last ten months, I’m confident the French aluminium industry will emerge stronger from this crisis and will seek to chart a way forward for the sector over the next few years.”
